Chinese Traditional Food
Chinese traditional food can be auspicious for 2017

If you wish to see an increase in prosperity in 2017, fish is the lucky plate. Dumplings and spring rolls are known to help you grow your wealth while tangyuan most commonly known as sweet rice balls strengthen the bond among families. If you are targeting to have a higher income or a higher position in your job, then the glutinous rice cake might help you. Good fortune fruit symbolises fullness, luck and wealth. Last but not the least, if you want 2017 to be full of happiness, longevity noodles are believed to be an auspicious option.

Interestingly, the celebrations go on for at least two weeks. Many people take time off from work to go and visit their family back home. Hundreds of millions of factory and office workers take the opportunity to visit their ancestral homes which means taking a well-deserved break from the busy city life in Shenzhen or Beijing. Around 414 million Chinese people will move around the world for the celebrations…. that’s like the whole of Europe moving… Just imagine!!!

So, the world’s second biggest economy will stop to celebrate the Chinese New Year this Saturday…What does this mean for the financial markets?

Will the Yuan flourish for the Chinese new year?

The Chinese markets will be closed from next Monday-Friday while in Hong Kong, the markets will be re-opened next Wednesday. So, before the Chinese markets shut down let Indigo FX handle your FX transactions. Currently, the Yuan is struggling as China is engaging itself in a threatening game with its currency.  Those moves could cause the global economy to witness a recession period. However, according to some sources, the central bank of China will convince financial institutions and banks to improve service which will help the recovery of the yuan. And it has to be highlighted that the rise of billionaire tycoon, Trump caused the yuan to fall to nearly eight year against the dollar, touching its lowest levels since January 2009….while the Chinese currency has witnessed a rocky start to 2017 we hope that the Year of the Rooster will support and bring luck to the Chinese currency….

On a happier note….It’s the one of the world’s largest celebrations which is why our team at Indigo FX is excited too and here’s us wishing that the Year of the Rooster will help you save more money on your international payments….Happy Chinese New Year everyone or perhaps Kung Hei Fat Choi is luckier (the way the Chinese say it)!
